OUTDOOR LIGHT BOX SIGNAGE
The greatest advantage of a lightbox over any other type of signage is the fact that you get twice the exposure: during the day and then again as soon as the sign lights up at night. Lightboxes are more fashionable and exclusive than most traditional advertising boards. At Redblock not only do we manufacture outdoor lightboxes, we also offer maintenance and restoration on existing lightboxes.
Our lightboxes are manufactured from the following materials |
- 90 or 150mm deep aluminium extrusions
- Chromadek back-plate for single-sided signs
- PVC corner connectors
- 220 Volt LED modules (3 LED’s per module and transformer in the case of 12 volt LED’s)
- Cast acrylic of flex face front face
- Wiring
CHOOSING BETWEEN A PERSPEX OR TRANSLUCENT PVC (FLEX-FACE) LIGHT BOX FACE
Perspex panels are limited to a size of 3050 x 2030mm. If the length or height of the light box exceeds these dimensions, translucent PVC will be the next logical option for the face. To the naked eye there is no difference in quality between Perspex and PVC. Flex face panels have the advantage of being slightly cheaper than Perspex face panels but the material itself is much cheaper and an additional frame must be constructed to tension the Flex face. This process is labour intensive and requires additional raw materials such as a 25 x 25mm square tube frame and a tensioning system for the construction. When Perspex is used, we print the design on a translucent vinyl sticker which is laminated and applied onto the Perspex panel whereas with flex face we print directly onto the PVC.
INSTALLATION OF LIGHT BOXES
Installation costs of lightboxes are dependent on the following factors:
- Your location
- How the sign is fixed, for example, against a wall, on a post or other
- The height between ground level and the top of the sign. Kindly send us a photo of the rigging position which includes ground level
MAINTENANCE & REPAIR OF LIGHT BOXES
There are various reasons contributing to the fact that a light box doesn’t light up, among these the most common one is the neon light globes have expired. They usually have a lifespan of about 3 years. As a result, we recommend LED light strips to extend the lifespan of your sign. These days LED’s are preferred as florescent light tubes are outdated. The second most common problem is usually faulty energisers or starter units but these are easy to replace. Unfortunately it is very difficult to quote on the repairing or replacing of lights inside your box without a Redblock technician inspecting the unit to identify the specific problem first.
