Commercial Building Signage in Pretoria East: CNC-Cut ACM Letters Installed at Height

A large commercial building façade offers valuable space for clear, professional branding. When the signage is designed for the viewing distance and installed in the right position, it helps visitors find the premises while strengthening the company’s presence every day.

For this completed project in Pretoria East, Redblock Branding Solutions manufactured and installed custom commercial building signage for Logista. The project included individually CNC-cut ACM letters, a custom logo and non-illuminated façade signage mounted high on the building using stand-off fixings.

Because the installation area was well above ordinary working height, a cherry picker was hired to provide suitable access. Redblock managed the full process, from manufacturing the letters and logo to positioning and installing the completed signage on site.

A Real Commercial Signage Project in Pretoria East

The Logista building has a large light-brick façade that is visible from the parking and approach areas. The branding needed to be large enough to read from a distance while still fitting the architecture of the building.

Instead of placing the company name on one large rectangular panel, the LOGISTA letters and the separate logo components were manufactured as individual elements. This allows the brickwork to remain visible between the letters and creates a clean architectural finish.

CNC-Cut ACM Letters and a Custom Logo

The individual letters and logo components were manufactured from ACM, also known as aluminium composite material. The material can be cut accurately on a CNC machine, which makes it suitable for custom lettering, logos and exterior signage shapes.

For this project, Redblock produced each element to match the approved Logista branding. CNC cutting helped maintain the correct letter shapes and the detail required for the separate logo components.

The signage is non-illuminated, so the letter size, colour contrast and installation position are especially important. The deep blue letters create a strong contrast against the lighter brick wall, while the white, blue and red logo adds a distinctive visual identifier.

Considering Custom ACM Letters?

Accurate Positioning and Stand-Off Mounting

Large individual letters need to be positioned carefully so that the spacing, height and alignment remain consistent across the building. Temporary positioning templates were used during the installation process to establish where the lettering and logo components needed to be mounted.

The signage was installed using stand-off fixings. This method creates a small separation between the ACM elements and the wall, giving the letters a dimensional appearance rather than making them look like flat printed graphics.

The correct mounting method depends on the signage material, the building surface, the size of the elements and the installation conditions. On this project, the brick façade required accurate drilling and fixing so that the individual pieces remained secure and properly aligned.

High-Level Signage Installation Using a Cherry Picker

The height of the signage was one of the defining features of the Logista project. The lettering sits near the upper section of the building, far above normal ladder height. A cherry picker was therefore hired to provide the access needed for the installation team.

High-level signage work requires careful planning. The team needs to consider the reach of the access equipment, the position of the vehicle, the order in which the elements will be installed and how the final alignment will be checked from ground level.

The cherry picker is not the product being promoted, but it demonstrates the scale of the project and Redblock’s ability to coordinate the equipment required for a large commercial installation.

The Completed Logista Building Signage

Once installed, the lettering transforms a previously blank section of the façade into a clear corporate identification feature. The large blue LOGISTA name can be recognised from a distance, while the separate logo adds a strong visual focal point.

The individual mounting style also preserves the appearance of the building. Rather than covering the brickwork with a large background panel, the signage works with the existing architecture and uses the wall itself as part of the presentation.

Why Commercial Building Signage Matters

Exterior building signage performs several practical and marketing functions at the same time. It can help visitors identify the correct premises, improve the professional appearance of a property and provide continuous brand visibility without an ongoing advertising cost.

  • Helps customers, suppliers and visitors locate the correct building.
  • Creates a professional first impression before anyone enters the premises.
  • Makes effective use of large exterior walls and unused façade space.
  • Strengthens brand recognition for businesses operating from commercial properties.
  • Can be designed to suit office buildings, warehouses, factories and business parks.

Where Can This Type of Signage Be Used?

CNC-cut exterior letters and custom logos can be adapted to many different commercial environments, including:

  • Office buildings and company headquarters
  • Warehouses and distribution centres
  • Factories and industrial properties
  • Business parks and commercial entrances
  • Retail and showroom buildings
  • Schools, colleges and training centres
  • Medical and professional practices

The appropriate material, size, mounting method and access plan will depend on the building surface, viewing distance, height and the client’s branding requirements.
