Outdoor Light Boxes: Pretoria
REDBLOCK OUTDOOR LIGHT BOXES SERVICE
The greatest advantage of a light box over any other type of signage is the fact that you get twice the exposure: during the day and then again as soon as the sign lights up at night! Lightboxes are more fashionable and exclusive than any traditional advertising boards. At REDBLOCK not only do we manufacture outdoor light boxes, we also offer maintenance and restoration on existing Light Boxes.
Our Light Boxes are manufactured with the following materials:
- 90 or 150mm deep Aluminium extrusions
- A Chromadek back-plate (for single-sided signs)
- PVC corner connectors
- LED or Neon tubes (for lighting)
- Perspex of Flex-face front face
- Wiring, starter units, light sensors (if required) and energisers.
CHOOSING BETWEEN A PERSPEX OR TRANSLUCENT PVC (FLEX-FACE) LIGHTBOX FACE
Available sizes for Perspex panels are limited to 3050mm x 2030mm, therefore, if the length of the light box exceeds these dimensions, we will need to use a translucent PVC for the face. To the naked eye there is no difference in quality between Perspex and PVC. Flex Face panels have the advantage of being slightly cheaper than a Perspex face panel but although the material itself is much cheaper, an additional frame must be constructed to tension the Flex face. This process is labour intensive and requires additional raw materials for the construction.
When Perspex is used, we print the design on a translucent vinyl sticker which is laminated and applied onto the Perspex panel whereas with Flex Face we print directly onto the PVC.
INSTALLATION OF LIGHT BOXES
Installation costs of Light Boxes are dependent on the following factors:
- Your location
- How the sign is fixed, for example: against a wall, on a post or other.
- The height between ground level and the top of the sign
MAINTENANCE AND RESTORATION OF LIGHT BOX SIGNS
Apart from manufacturing Light boxes, we also do restoration on existing Light Boxes.
If you require maintenance or restoration to an existing light box, we will first quote on a call-out fee to identify the problem, after which we will quote you on the repair work and parts needed to restore your light box. In most cases the additional repair cost does not amount to more than R 1500.00 in excess of the call-out fee and quoted order.
In cases where the face of a light box needs to be replaced, we use either Perspex or Translucent PVC/ Flex Face. If the original face was constructed with Perspex, in most cases, the Perspex must also be replaced as a result of the fact that Perspex starts to crack and wear when it has been exposed to the elements for more than 12 months. In addition, vinyl on the face tends to melt onto the Perspex over time because of the continuous exposure to the low heat radiating from the inside of the box.
RESTORATION OF LIGHTING
There are various factors that can contribute to the fact that a light box doesn’t light up, among these the most common one is the fact that the neon light globes have expired (they usually have a lifespan of about 3 years). As a result, we recommend LED light strips to extend the lifespan of your sign.
The second most common problem is usually faulty energisers or starter units – these are easy to replace.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to quote on the repairing or replacing of lights inside your box without a Redblock technician inspecting the unit to identify the specific problem.
